Dorothy Arnold


Dorothy Harriet Camille Arnold was an wealthy American socialite and heiress who disappeared while walking on Fifth Avenue in New York City in December 1910. The circumstances surrounding her disappearance have never been resolved and her fate remains unknown.

Arnold was born in New York City, the second of four children of perfume importer Francis Rose Arnold and his wife Mary Martha Parks Arnold . She had an older brother, John and two younger siblings Dan Hinckley and Marjorie Brewster . Arnolds father Francis was a Harvard University graduate who was a senior partner of F.R. Arnold amp Co., a company that imported fancy goods. His sister, Harriette Maria Arnold, was married to Supreme Court Justice Rufus W. Peckham. They were descendants of English passengers who arrived in America on the Mayflower while Arnolds mother hailed from Montreal, Canada. Due to their social standing, the family was listed in the Social Register.
